Today's Game Pass update looks bigger than it really is. Three games are being mentioned, but Vapor World: Over the Mind is the only one that is actually new to the wider service. BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X and Relooted are moving into Game Pass Premium after already being available to Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
That makes Vapor World the one worth putting on your short list. It launches on August 19 as a day-one Game Preview title for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox Wire lists cloud, console, and PC support, so subscribers can try it without buying the game separately.
A souls-like built around deflecting hits
Vapor World is a side-scrolling, narrative-driven souls-like platformer from ALIVE. Its combat centers on timing enemy attacks, deflecting them, and breaking an opponent's defense before taking the opening. The setup is suitably grim: a boy is trapped inside a warped dream and must descend through a shattered mind to recover lost memories.
The Steam description calls the enemies "projections" and ties successful deflections to a system called Crack Break. Once an enemy is exposed, the player extracts an ember and uses recovered tools, records, and abilities to push farther into the dream. It is a familiar action-game rhythm, but the deflection focus gives the platforming a sharper edge than a standard hit-and-roll setup.

The Game Preview warning matters
This is an early version, not a finished campaign. The Steam listing describes the current Early Access build as a prologue plus two episodes, with the full release planned to add an ending, more side quests, hidden stories, enemies, and languages. The store page also says the developers expect the complete version sometime in 2026, but it does not give a firm date.
There is another detail players may want to know before downloading. The Steam page discloses generative AI use for some story cutscene animation and voices. That is not a footnote worth hiding, especially because the store's current user reception is negative. The game is in Early Access, so that reception may change, but subscribers should go in knowing what the developer has disclosed and what state the build is in.
For anyone curious about the combat or the game's unusual dream setting, Game Pass makes the experiment fairly painless. Just do not mistake "day one" for "finished." Vapor World is arriving as a work in progress, and the useful question is whether its parries and exploration are already strong enough to carry the rough edges.
BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X and Relooted are also available through the update. They are the less surprising part of the announcement, but they give Premium subscribers two more games to install if Vapor World's timing-based combat is not their thing.
